Generic Policy Direction of the Green Industries Unit

The purpose of the Green Industries Chief Directorate is to design (this includes alignment) and implement policies, strategies and programmes to promote economic growth, job creation and transformation that are presented by the unique opportunity of structural change towards a green economy. This structural transformation presents many new opportunities in the areas of energy generation, transmission and distribution; transport; logistics; manufacturing; the circular economy (repairs, refurbishment, upgrading, recycling); water and sanitation; and the convergence of technologies such as telecoms, IT and electricity. Over the last few years the environmental responsibility of industries became a new element of global competiveness that literally can open or close access to new and existing markets and funding and investment streams.
