Senior manager, distribution, system operations, Eskom
Al’louise is an electrical engineering by qualification and is currently occupying the Senior Manager for Load Forecasting and Research at Eskom. The outputs of this area focus on medium to long term forecasting for South Africa from a national and regional perspective. Al’louise is a strategic thinker and able to strategically put information together in a meaningful practical way that enables solutions and unblocks technical challenges.
Al’louise’s passion is the power system operations and electricity markets, and she is currently pursuing her PhD with University of Cape Town focusing on the location of renewable plant and the power system security impact. Al’louise has over twenty years of being in Eskom service and started her journey in distribution division in 1997. She has in depth knowledge and has occupied various engineering roles over the years in Eskom, one as the National Control Manager, within System Operator from 2009 till 2015. Thereafter her journey was continued within Energy Planning and Market Development from 2015 till 2020 as a Senior Manager for Independent Power Producer Integration where her role was to look at all the technical matters related to integration of IPP’’s specifically renewable generation sources. Following that, she has been at Grid planning in Transmission having the responsibility to provide the medium and lng term forecast for the transmission development plan and the medoum term system adequacy report. Al’louise holds an M.Sc in Electrical Engineering, a SAIEE member, member of GO-15 work groups, Cigre work groups and a Professional registered engineer with ECSA.
