Group CEO, Distributed Power Africa
Norman is currently the Group CEO of Distributed Power Africa, a pan African renewable energy and technology group. His role involves overseeing the rollout of distributed energy solutions within the Commercial and Industrial (C&I) sector under the brand name Distributed Power Africa (DPA) and solar to mini-grids under the name Ugesi Power Limited.
Norman has a well-rounded experience gained whilst working in various African countries like Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Tanzania and South Africa. Having begun his career journey at Standard Chartered Bank, he moved into the Telecommunications industry when GSM Technology was introduced in Africa by being part of Econet Wireless Zimbabwe team. Thereafter he moved to Celtel International as Commercial Director in Zambia before landing the job of Chief Marketing Officer in Nigeria.
In 2011 Norman was nominated at the prestigious GTB Global Top 40 World Telecom Leaders Under 40 as a result of his work in Nigeria. In addition, his exploits in IOT have recently earned him two Titans of Influence awards (2017) on a national and regional level in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector.
Norman holds a Masters in Business Administration Degree (MBA) from the University of Zimbabwe (U.Z) and London Business School; as well as an Honours Degree in Economics from U.Z. He is very passionate about impacting positive change in the African continent through sharing lessons that he has learnt throughout his career. This is evident in the book he recently authored “Rumble in The Jungle, Leadership from an African Perspective” (2015) that gives vital business leadership insights drawn largely from his experiences. He has also shared his experiences and expertise in various summits across the world including the Mandela Washington summit in the United States.
