Head of Renewables Energy Business Development, Sasol
Phemelo Mitchell is Head of Renewables Energy Business Development at Sasol and serves on the board of SAPVIA.
Phemelo has extensive experience in the energy sector as an Engineering Professional in the fields of Project Management, Engineering Procurement and Construction with additional experience in the manufacturing sector.
Her career started at Eskom Capital Expansion Division at Komati Power Station working as a turbine centreline engineer. She has over 15 years’ experience in Power Generation (Coal & Nuclear), Renewable Energy (Wind and Solar) with knowledge of Independent Power Producer Procurement (REIPPP) Programme contractual framework for large-scale conventional power generation from the project development phase through to the decommissioning phase. Her knowledge base for renewable energy started at EDF Renewables South Africa working as a project manager. She previously occupied the position of EPC Manager at ib vogt South Africa , her responsibilities encompassed leading the technical submission for bid window 5 of the Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement (REIPPP) Programme including Enterprise and Supplier Development, Economic Development, strategy development and execution for compliance to economic development and localization under the REIPPPP.
Phemelo holds a qualification in Mechanical Engineering , Project Management as well as a Master’s in Business Management and Administration from University of Stellenbosch (USB) .She also holds an Executive Masters in Business Management and Administration from University of Bologna (Italy).
