Senior Social Performance Manager, BTE Renewables
Celiwe Mabaso is a seasoned Communications and Social Performance practitioner with a specialisation in community development and impact investment. Currently working as the Senior social performance manager for BTE Renewables, she is responsible for leading BTE’s Social Performance team, in her role Celiwe is responsible for the design and implementation of BTE’s Community Investment Strategy in South Africa.
Prior to her role at BTE she’s held similar roles at EIMS Africa and General Electric (GE) where she served as Community Operations Manager and CSR Leader for South Africa respectively.
In addition to her role at BTE, Celiwe is also the current Chairperson of the SAWEA+ SAPVIA Economic Development working group, driving conversations around economic development and the sector’s contribution ensuring that the energy transition is indeed “Just”.
As recipient of the M&G 200 award in 2021, Celiwe is passionate about the development of youth in township, rural and remote communities having worked in the communities of the North West, Saldanha bay most recently Northern and Eastern Cape province. Her approach to community development is centred around co-creation allowing communities to part own the interventions to ensure buy-in and long term sustainability.
