Manager: Sustainable Energy Facilitation Branch, The City of Cape Town
Mary is a professional engineer with degrees from Stanford University and the Royal Technical Institute in Stockholm. She has over 14 years’ experience delivering exceptional environmental and social sustainability outcomes in the built environment, and seeks integrated solutions to create healthier, safer and more liveable cities. Mary now leads the City of Cape Town’s Sustainable Energy Facilitation team, enabling a wide range of projects within the Sustainable Energy Markets department. Through considered communication campaigns and projects that seek to unlock barriers, Mary aims to shift people’s energy choices for a better future by inviting citizens to be part of the journey towards carbon neutrality. Her work also seeks to further the uptake of small-scale embedded generation and new technologies such as Electric Vehicles.
